A small group of dedicated volunteers put together six events to celebrate Columbus Day and the Italian heritage in the Metro Detroit area. These events include the following:

Queen Pageant
The queens are sponsored by various clubs, organizations, businesses and individuals. The queens not only represent the Italian community in the Columbus Day Celebration Parade, but also represent Italian Americans in other parades. If a contestant cannot locate a sponsor, one will be provided for them. The sponsor fee is $300, which covers all events for the contestant for the entire 2024 Columbus Day Queen Contest Set year. If you do not have a sponsor but would still like to participate, a sponsor will be found for you

Columbus Day Street Fair
The Columbus Day Committee is holding their second annual Italian Street fair in the Beautiful City of Mount Clemens. The Emcee for the Event will be Aaron Caruso. Last year there was a Pizza eating contest sponsored by Sorrento Pizza as well as a cannoli eating contest held by Randazzo fresh. There were game's for children, and many vendors, Lots of food for purchase and the street was filled with Italian Music.

Mass at San Francesco
In keeping with the theme of Unifying our community, We have graciously been sharing our celebration with San Fransesco Church which celebrates the feast day of the patron saint of Italy and the Patron saint of San Francesco. Father Dino Vanin presides over this Mass

Ramo Salerno Trip to Lansing
State Representatives sponsor a Celebration at the Capitol. This year The ceremony will me in the Mackinac room of the Anderson House Office Building. A bus embarks early in the morning to its Lansing destination. Refreshment will be served following the presentation.

Mass at Holy Family
Fr. Paul Ward and the Columbus Day Celebration Committee welcomes everyone to join them as they celebrate a special Columbus Day Mass. The event will take place at 11:00am at Holy Family Catholic Church, located at 641 Chrysler Drive (the I-375/Chrysler Freeway Service Drive) in Detroit. Every year to celebrate Columbus discovering the Americas, Italian Americans
around metro Detroit Eat, Drink and are Very Merry celebrating Columbus discovering America.
